OKINAWA-TE was founded in 1957 by it's creator Grand master Gordon A Doversola to serve the needs of the local communities by providing valued transferable skills that encourage personal growth and the ongoing development of young and learned minds via the arts educational syllabus.Â
Today's Okinawa-Te acknowledges it is accredited with being the source from which many modern arts have sprung to life and blossomed over the past thirty plus years.

Personal Development
Okinawa-Te is the forerunner to numerous modern day martial art styles. Yet it continues to lead the way due to it's effectiveness and immense wealth of unmastered martial art knowledge. Okinawa-Te is known for it's strong traditional foundation and it's adaptations to real life thanks to the brilliant evolutionary mind of it's creator, Grand master Gordon A Doversola.
Courses
Black Belt & Instructor Courses
Okinawa-Te provides three paths for it's students. The first is one of a casual practitioner whereby the goal may be focused on learning an effective means of personal development through disciplines such as self-defence, self control, fitness or stress relief as an example. The other two paths require a higher level of personal dedication as they lead to the ladder of the arts black belt rankings and instructors diploma's.

About the Okinawa-Te Karate Organization New Zealand Headquarters (Honbu Dojo)
Located in Christchurch New Zealand , it originally started out as the Okinawa-Te Aranui Dojo located at the Sydenham Community hall in Christchurch New Zealand 1989, founded by Sensei John Flavell. It was relocated to the Aranui community hall of that same year where it remained until the Okinawa-Te Aranui Dojo name was changed in 1995 to Okinawa-Te Karate Organization New Zealand Headquarters after Sensei Flavell was appointed the countries Okinawa-Te Karate Organization Head (Chief) instructor by Grand master Gordon A Doversola. In 1997 it was relocated once more to 233 Breezes Road, Aranui Christchurch New Zealand, where it remained for the following eighteen years.
Today it facilitates from the Bromley community center, 45 Bromley Road, Bromley Christchurch 8062 New Zealand where the Chief instructor has been shaping the minds and bodies of our students. We’re proud to offer learning opportunities to creative and motivated individuals. In addition to a full course catalogue for all of their educational needs, we instill confidence in our students, giving them the power to tackle real world problems.
