New Zealand Director and Chief Instructor

One of last remaining loyal sensei to Grand masters Gordon A Doversola, Kyoshi John W Flavell (Sensei) has served directly under the grand masters as his personally appointed hand since 30 September 1995. The highest commision ever to be bestowed upon any member of the art by Grand master Gordon A Doversola, the creator and founder of Okinawa-Te.

NZ OTKO National Chief Instructor & Director

Started his personal training with Grand master Gordon A Doversola during 1986 while attending the Christchurch central dojo in New Zealand.
In 1989 he opened the Okinawa-Te Aranui dojo.
1991 he was promoted to sandan (advanced instructor).

Karate instructor earns badge of office

Aranui karate instructor John Flavell, right, sheaths his badge of office after it was presented to him by American grandmaster Gordon Doversola, left. The sword establishes sensei Flavell as the countries head instructor of Okinawa-Te karate. Doversola, who is based in Los Angeles, will conduct weapons seminars and a black belt grading before he leaves next week.

Shichidan Certification

Chief instructor acknowledged

On July 16 2015 Sensei John Flavell was acknowledge and certified Shichidan, seventh degree black belt. A humble promotion in recognition of character, dedicated service and demonstrated skill and abilities.
On August 1st 2016, due to the self imposed demotions of American and New Zealand based instructors, Sensei Flavell became the arts highest ranked instructor by default.

Grandmasters Incorporated Society under Chief instructors protection since October 20 1994

Entrusted with the guardianship of the incorporated society establish directly under the authority of the grand master, the Chief instructor continues to prove himself to be one whom upholds the principles of honour and keeping his word, regardless of any personal sacrifices. Something he has become renowned for even more so over the recent couple of years.
